Plagiarism and its Discontents

Yesterday I discovered that all the blog posts I've been writing for a client for the better part of a year--under my own name and copyright--have been lifted by another blog. With no acknowledgement of authorship--and including the graphics I bought and paid for to complement the text--oh goody!!

I've written a Cease and Desist Notice; we'll see what happens. I'm definitely using this experience in my fiction somehow.

New Cover

I decided to use a different cover for the second edition of Opening to the Sacred. I liked the other graphic, but I was advised by someone who knows graphic arts that it needed a photograph that would appeal to us yoga/meditation crunchy-granola types! ;)

I know it's totally mad to release a "second edition" of a book just a couple of weeks after the first, but in this case, there were crazy-important revisions that had to be made. I've learned an important lesson for future books: don't be over-anxious to get the manuscript out there! Even after you've done heavy revisions and have had lots of eyes on it, chances are it will easily sustain several more edits before it's genuinely ready to meet the world.

Anyway, here's the cover for the new edition:

It's available now!

Opening to the Sacred

I've been working as a ghostwriter since 2009. Since then, I've published five books for other people; they include a collection of short stories, two self-help titles, a fantasy novella, and an autobiography.

I've just published my first book under my own name, called Opening to the Sacred: A Humanist Approach to Holistic Spirituality. Its official publication date is today, June 18, 2012. It will be available for download at Kindle within 12 hours. My Author's Page can be accessed here: http://www.amazon.com/William-Ferro/e/B008C6N13C.

Every Morning at Nine

Came across a great writing quote today:

"I only write when I'm inspired. And I make it my business to be inspired every morning at 9:00 am."

Attributed to William Faulkner and others. An excellent antidote to writer's block.
